OLD COURT
This building, currently adapted to the popular and traditional "Carnicería de Peña", maintained its function as a court since its creation, between the end of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th century, until in 1949 it was moved to Calle Pedro González Dominguez. It responds to the characteristics of public architecture of the 19th century in terms of shapes and composition. The large dimensions demonstrate the bureaucratic importance of justice in the municipality, due to the establishment of industrialists and wealthy bourgeoisie in the city who also paid for its construction.
It should be noted the decoration of the façade, with ornamental motifs typical of silver work and jewelry in general, maintaining links with the French palace tradition. There is homogeneity in the whole, as well as a great symmetry and balance in it, typical of the Enlightenment heritage.
It is located on the street that remembers Doctor D. Rafael Palomo y Anaya (1881-1919), guided and protected by his brother, the illustrious painter D. Antonio Palomo Anaya.
Doctor Palomo y Anaya, became the head of the Bacteriology Service of Malaga. The people of Coín and the entire province benefited from his knowledge and charitable professional practice, "particularly the poor who, trusting in his science and great heart, went to his consultation in Coín, where he always exercised his art." '.
When a terrible flu epidemic broke out in this region, Dr. Palomo, despite knowing his contagious nature, went wherever any of his patients required him. He saved the lives of many sick people and he couldn't do the same with his own. Still young and single, he died a victim of influenza bronchopneumonia in 1919.
