About the complex
The Hospital de la Caridad and Church of San Andrés is a monumental historical-artistic heritage site in Coín. It dates back to the 16th century and in its more than 500 years of history it has undergone several extensions and modifications until it has been completely remodelled and has a total surface area of more than 1,500 square metres. It reopened to the public on 29th November 2024 after a major renovation of the building, which was in ruins, by the Junta de Andalucía and the Coín Town Hall. Thus, the original structure of the enclave has been recovered, which has already begun to be reused for administrative and cultural use. As a result, since 27 January, the Coín Town Council's Department of Culture has been housed in the offices of this refurbished complex.
All the rooms share a compatible use with each other and the church of San Andrés may have an occasional religious use that will be compatible with the development of its main activity as a cultural hall. The project includes the replacement of the roofs, the restoration of the coffered ceiling of the presbytery and the altar area and the recovery of the original access to the cloister.Of the rest of the building, the intervention carried out in the courtyard stands out, which recovers its structural condition, distributing the ground floor, which has a public service area for municipal services and an exhibition hall, and the upper floor, which will function as administrative headquarters.
