Coín - Alhaurín el Grande

1

This route, which runs through the southwest area of the Guadalhorce Valley, enjoys an unusually rich landscape and history. It is not for nothing that it runs through the historic orchards of the Muslim "Paraíso ameno" (Coín) and "Jardín de Alá" (Alhaurín el Grande), approaching several springs used, at least, since the first stable human settlements in the area. . Likewise, the paths we travel are steeped in history, as we travel through several sections of the two cattle tracks owned by the municipality of Coín, as well as paths of ancestral use such as "Los Pescadores", which were used to carry fish from the coasts of Mijas and Fuengirola inland, and the road from "Coín to Alhaurín el Grande", which linked these two sister towns.

Regarding the landscape, on one side are the orchards of the Coín, Alhaurín and Guadalhorce valleys; on the other, the mountains that separate us from the coast, which are mostly populated with pine trees, surprise us with their greenery and exuberance. These mountains, Blanca and Mijas, also hide the largest aquifers in the region, which are the ones that flow from the numerous fountains and springs that both towns have.
